A THANGKA OF A BUDDHIST STUPA, TIBET, 18th-19th CENTURY
十八至十九世紀西藏佛塔唐卡

Gold and distemper on cloth with a silk brocade mounting. Finely painted with Buddha Shakyamuni inside a stupa seated in dhyanasana on a lotus base with his right hand lowered in bhumisparsha mudra, flanked by two Buddhas at the top and two bodhisattvas below, with offerings on the ground before the stupa, all within a verdant landscape.
Provenance: From a German private collection.
Condition: Some soiling, stains, creasing, minor tears and losses, wear to gold and pigments. The mounting with some wear, soiling, stains and a few minor tears. The gilt still well-preserved overall.
