2ND "SILENT AUCTION" WITH CHARITY ON 14 JANUARY

The Gallery Zacke - with the help of its customers -  has supported a Burmese orphanage for several years. In January 2011 we organized our first silent auction with charity for which a special system was developed. This was so successful and well-accepted by our customers that we will now stage our 2nd such “silent auction” with charity.

We cordially invite you to submit your bids - no matter how much or little - to this 2nd "silent auction" with charity – for one or more objects/pictures from our entire offering (over 600 positions) on www.zacke.at. According to your personal opinion, you may bid under the given estimate/purchase price. You have time to bid until midnight 14 January. We will relay the respective highest bid per lot (we are hoping naturally for great interest) to the respective owners: It is up to them to accept or reject. Last year we experienced our consigners to be very generous with price reductions for this charity auction. So many of our bidders were able to make extraordinarily favorable acquisitions. At the same time a wonderfully generous collective donation was made possible for this extremely remote and needy orphanage in the deep and inaccessable jungle. As a matter-of-fact, this children’s home is dependant on our help.

For this auction, Gallery Zacke will totally forego its premium. Instead our customers will only pay a minimal percentage of 1% for each bid (succcessful or not) as well as 4% for each purchase. These proceeds will be further relayed to the orphanage without any deductions:  We always control that our donations are spent legally and wisely. Last year we donated a total of US$ 8,530. On the occasion of our visit, US$ 7,000 was given in cash. US$ 1,530 was wire-transferred for daily living expenses in monthly installments.

The children we support are mostly war orphans. The seven monastery monks pick them up in the villages where they live deep in the jungle and bring them to the home where they receive an education: This enables them to escape poverty and this social system actually functions quite well.

The name of the monastery is Damma Lingaya and is situated about 30 km from Kyaikto.  Taking care of the 250 to 300 children (the count naturally fluctuates) for the little impoverished monastery is a tough challenge. In the meantime we and our customers from all over the world are something like a little independant international help organization. In winter rice must be bought as well as books, paper and writing material for the school. Furthermore, last year property was purchased so that monks and children can cultivate their own vegetables. And beyond all this, our big project is the construction of a new school building. This is because the old building, which is also the monastery, is in very bad condition. Here we would just call it a “dump“. For the children there are only two large rooms where everything has to be taken care of:  Prayer room, school, dining room, bedroom for the boys*. The construction of the two-story house with around 1,800 square meters has been completed. However the interior work is advancing very slowly due to lack of funds. In February we will have a look personally at the progress and discuss the exact utilization of the 2nd charity auction funds with the abbot. And of course we will again bring large suitcases full of toys, which we will collect ourselves!

We send you our heartfelt thanks - in the name of all children - for your contribution and wish you successful bidding!
