Entitled Chagrin d'Amour, Kusale, Est Carolines (Sorrows of Love, Kusale, Caroline Islands). Stamped no. 67/350 in red on the verso.
Maeda, Jacoulet’s carver, considered the delicate claws of the scarlet parrot circling the lovestruck young woman’s finger to be one of his best carvings. The vivid blues, green and red contrast with the flowers and the tattered leaves in a way that is peculiarly Jacoulet’s.

Condition: Good, detailed impression and great colors with slightly trimmed margins; very minor material loss along the bottom margin.
Paul Jacoulet (1902-1960) was a French artist who gained worldwide recognition for his woodblock prints created in Japan during the 20th century. Born in Paris, Jacoulet spent most of his life in Japan, where he developed a deep appreciation for the country's culture and people. He studied traditional Japanese woodblock printmaking techniques and fused them with his own artistic style to create exquisite prints that captured the beauty and grace of Japanese life. Jacoulet's works often featured portraits of women, and were known for their meticulous attention to detail, delicate color palette, and subtle use of shading.

Once you have pre-registered for a live online auction, you can see your intended spend and bid limit by going to 'Account Settings' and clicking on 'Live Bidding Registrations'.
Your bid limit will be the maximum amount you can bid during the auction. Your bid limit is for the hammer price and is not affected by the buyer’s premium and VAT. For example, if you have a bid limit of €1,000 and place two winning bids for €300 and €200, then you will only be able to bid €500 for the rest of the auction. If you try to place a bid that is higher than €500, you will not be able to do so.
