China, 1368-1644. The slender bangle carved in relief to the exterior sides with a monkey, dogs, and a bat and two rows of Chinese characters. The semi-translucent stone of a creamy grayish-white tone with black patches and veins as well as cloudy inclusions.
Provenance: From a Swedish private collection.
Condition: The bangle repaired at three sections with associated cracks and small losses. The stone with natural fissures, some of which have developed into small hairline cracks over time. Good, naturally grown patina with a smooth feeling overall.
