A BROWN-GLAZED STONEWARE JAR IN THE FORM OF A BEARDED MAN
LOT 697 - FAS1024
Thailand, 19th to early 20th century. The anthropomorphic gourd-shaped body is supported on a flared foot and rising to a cup-shaped mouth. The bearded face carved with a grim expression marked by large round eyes, long bushy brows, clenched teeth, and alert ears. The body modeled with two arms extended toward the chest with the hands gripping a bowl, and the base with a pair of feet.
Covered overall in a dark olive-brown glaze falling well short of the foot and pooling attractively in thick drops to reveal the buff-colored body underneath.
Provenance: From a private collection in Australia.
Condition: Good condition with wear, traces of use, firing irregularities, glaze recesses, small areas of oxidization, and minor flaking.

- Bidders must complete their due diligence and clarify all questions about the objects before the auction. After the auction, Zacke will not answer questions from bidders unless the purchase price has been paid in full. Of course, this does not apply to questions concerning shipping, insurance, customs, etc.
- A sale cancellation of any kind after the fall of the hammer is not possible. The only exception to this fundamental rule is our guarantee of authenticity [the Guarantee].
- A Guarantee Claim, however, can only be raised after the purchase price has been paid in full by the buyer and within 45 days after the auction day.
