Lot details

China, 1736-1795. Of hexagonal section, tapering towards the foot and surmounted by a waisted neck, finely painted in polychrome enamels, gilt, and iron-red, each side with three lobed cartouches enclosing figural scenes or landscapes with birds, framed by dense gilt scrollwork. The foot lined with a floral brocade pattern below a key-fret band.

Provenance: Slovakian private collection.
Condition: The vase with repairs to one side and the upper rim, with minor associated losses, fills, and glaze crazing.

Dimensions: Height 39.4 cm

Compare a closely related Canton enamel vase, dated to the Qianlong period, 31.2 cm tall, in the Heyuan Museum.

The main points include the following:

  • Bidders must complete their due diligence and clarify all questions about the objects before the auction. After the auction, Zacke will not answer questions from bidders unless the purchase price has been paid in full. Of course, this does not apply to questions concerning shipping, insurance, customs, etc.
  • A sale cancellation of any kind after the fall of the hammer is not possible. The only exception to this fundamental rule is our guarantee of authenticity [the Guarantee].
  • A Guarantee Claim, however, can only be raised after the purchase price has been paid in full by the buyer and within 45 days after the auction day.
