Distemper on cloth. Well painted with the green-skinned six-armed Mahakala striding atop a lotus base, a blood-filled skullcup with skulls and severed heads before him, flanked by a red and a black Mahakala, holding a kapala and kartrika in his main hands, his other four hands radiating around him, wearing a tiger skin, billowing scarves, and ornate jewelry, the face with a wrathful expression, the hair secured by a skull tiara, surrounded by a flaming mandorla, the upper margin with a white and a yellow Mahakala.
Provenance: Acquired by the father of the present owners around 1970 and thence by descent.
Condition: Good condition with some wear, creasing, abrasions, minor losses, possibly minor touchups.
Dimensions: Size 150 x 119 cm
The Green Mahakala is a rare form of Mahakala and belongs to the Shangpa Kagyu, the “secret lineage” of the Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism.

布面膠彩。綠膚六臂大黑天身軀呈站立姿勢,右腿屈,左腿伸,站在蓮座上。項掛人頭骨大念珠,戴五骷髏冠;他的六隻手都有法器,中間兩手置胸前,也是左手托骷髏碗,右手持月形刀,其餘四手分開;腰圍虎皮;他面帶忿怒相,顯得威嚴恐怖。背後有火焰光背,上方有黃白兩色大黑天,下方有紅黑兩色大黑天。
來源:現任藏家的父親購於上世紀七十年代,保存至今。
品相:狀況良好,有一些磨損、摺痕、擦傷、輕微損失以及輕微修飾。
