A SMALL AND RARE GILT-BRONZE FIGURE OF VAJRAVARAHI AND VARAHA, 18TH-19TH CENTURY

Tibetan-Chinese. Finely cast, both deities striding atop a lotus base with minutely beaded rim, his right leg wrapped around her waist, each with a central pig head flanked by two more conventionally wrathful faces, their twelve arms intertwined with hands held in karana mudra and clutching vajras and other attributes, their bodies richly adorned with beaded jewelry, , . Both deities are decorated with beaded jewelry, their flaming hair rising dramatically and crowned with diadems of skulls. The base sealed with an oblong sealplate incised with a central double-vajra.
Provenance: From an Austrian private collection. The base with an old label inscribed ‘16’.
Condition: Good condition with minor wear and casting irregularities, few tiny losses to extremities, few small nicks, expected losses to attributes, rubbing and losses to gilt, remnants of pigment. A small circular aperture to the underside with a wax fill.

- Bidders must complete their due diligence and clarify all questions about the objects before the auction. After the auction, Zacke will not answer questions from bidders unless the purchase price has been paid in full. Of course, this does not apply to questions concerning shipping, insurance, customs, etc.
- A sale cancellation of any kind after the fall of the hammer is not possible. The only exception to this fundamental rule is our guarantee of authenticity [the Guarantee].
- A Guarantee Claim, however, can only be raised after the purchase price has been paid in full by the buyer and within 45 days after the auction day.
