China, 3500-2500 BC. Carved in the form of a cicada with its wings tucked behind, the face with large bulging eyes, the back pierced with an aperture for suspension. The opaque stone of a grayish white tone with black veins and patches as well as areas of calcification.
Provenance: From a European private collection.
Condition: Very good condition with expected old wear and minuscule nibbling. The stone with natural fissures, some of which may have developed into minor hairlines.
