Lot details

China, possibly of the period (1821-1850) or somewhat later. Finely potted, the deep, rounded sides rising from a short, slightly tapered foot to a gently everted rim. The exterior decorated in vibrant enamels with a pair of five-clawed dragons writhing among swirling clouds in pursuit of the flaming pearl, above a band of overlapping petals encircling the foot. The interior similarly decorated with a central roundel enclosing a dragon engaged in the same celestial chase. The recessed base with a six-character reign mark in underglaze blue da Qing Daoguang Nianzhi and of the period.

Provenance: From a private collection in the United Kingdom.
Condition: Very good condition with minor wear, firing irregularities, shallow surface scratches to the interior and a microscopic chip to the mouth rim.

  • Bidders must complete their due diligence and clarify all questions about the objects before the auction. After the auction, Zacke will not answer questions from bidders unless the purchase price has been paid in full. Of course, this does not apply to questions concerning shipping, insurance, customs, etc.
  • A sale cancellation of any kind after the fall of the hammer is not possible. The only exception to this fundamental rule is our guarantee of authenticity [the Guarantee].
  • A Guarantee Claim, however, can only be raised after the purchase price has been paid in full by the buyer and within 45 days after the auction day.
