Japan, Edo period (1615-1868), the inro 17th to 18th century, the netsuke 19th century.
Of upright rectangular form and oval section, the three-case inro decorated in gold, amber and brown lacquer with a patterned design resembling realgar. The wood netsuke carved as a lotus pod, with loose and movable seeds inside each pit, the long stem curling to form the natural himotoshi.
HEIGHT 7 cm (the inro), 3.5 cm (the netsuke)
Condition: The inro in good condition with expected wear, rubbing to edges, minor nibbles to rims, small chips around the cord runners, with minor touchups. The netsuke with some wear, tiny nicks, and loss to one side.
