Japan, early 20th century, Meiji period (1868-1912) to Taisho period (1912-1926)
Of square form, bearing a lustrous roiro ground and finely decorated with gold and silver takamaki-e, hiramaki-e, and togidashi-e to depict three poem cards, each with a scene: a bird swimming; a rocky landscape with a hut and pagoda; and a courtesan holding a branch. These scenes are all surrounded by cherry blossoms, with some leaves embellished with kirigane flakes. The rims of gold fundame.
SIZE 27.2 x 27.4 cm
Condition: Good condition with typical wear, surface scratches, small chips to the edges and corners, as well as obvious cracks.
With an inscribed wood tomobako (storage box). (2)
