The tall, cylindrical body supported on a spreading foot and rising to a short, waisted neck with a wide, thick-lipped mouth. The exterior richly enameled to depict large hibiscus blossoms emerging from long stems with colorful leaves, alongside a quail pecking among the gras and fluttering butterflies, all set against a shaded brilliant blue ground. The foot and neck intricately decorated with differently patterned lappet bands and gilt floral brocades on a finely crackled, creamy-white glazed ground. Inscribed to the base Dai Nippon [Japan] and signed TAIZAN sei [made by Taizan].
HEIGHT 23.3 cm
Condition: Very good condition with minor surface wear and slight abrasions.
Provenance: Private estate, United Kingdom. The art collection, comprising over 100 fine and eclectic Asian works of art, including pieces from China, Japan, and other regions, has been formed primarily 20–30 years ago.
