A LOBED LONGQUAN ‘DRAGON’ DISH, YUAN – EARLY MING DYNASTY
元至明初龍泉窯暗刻龍紋花口盤

China, 13th-15th century. Finely molded with everted floral-petal sides on the interior, the dish stands on a small round foot. The interior carved with a central dragon surrounded by four swirling clouds. The dish is covered overall in a thick celadon glaze which has fine veins of crackling throughout.

Provenance: The box has an old label that reads, ‘Hibiscus blossom Longquan Anhua dish.’ From the estate of a notable Hong Kong family, who brought a substantial collection of ceramics, porcelains, and other Chinese works of art with them when they immigrated to Canada in the 1950s. Thence by descent within the family to the last owner.
Condition: Very good condition with minor old wear. Minimal firing irregularities, glaze pooling around the raised relief, pitting, kiln grit, and a glaze recess on the base exposing the ware, burnt to orange in the firing, as expected of longquan ware.

If you try to place a bid that is higher than €500, you will not be able to do so.
