China, Qing Dynasty (1644-1912). Naturalistically modeled in the form of a monkey seated on a peach borne on a branch which served as spout, its left arm forming the handle. The monkey depicted with rounded, black-glazed eyes and rounded nose and ears, its fur nicely detailed, the head surmounted by a cover molded as a hat.
Condition: Good condition with minor wear and firing imperfections. Two small chips to the opening at the top of the head.
Provenance: Holzapfel collection, Geneva, Switzerland. This lot was acquired by second generation members of the Holzapfel family after 1970 and has remained in the family ever since.
