The bitong of cylindrical form, the exterior covered in underglaze blue save for three reserves delicately enameled in green, yellow, aubergine, and with iron-red. One squared-shaped reserve depicting a man on horseback in an outdoor setting, another is fan-shaped and comprises a bird perched on a flowering branch, and the last a circular reserve with bamboo and other flowers. The base with a circular unglazed section.
Condition: Broken in several pieces and reglued. Presenting well.
Provenance: Holzapfel collection, Geneva, Switzerland. This lot was acquired by second generation members of the Holzapfel family after 1970 and has remained in the family ever since.
