China, 1760-1860. The globular body supported on a short and massive foot, rising to a tall neck tapering towards the lipped rim, formed from a solid block of opaque milky white glass, finely overlaid with a layer of translucent blue glass, neatly carved in high relief and detailed with very fine incision work to depict two dragons chasing the flaming pearl amidst scrolling clouds. The recessed base with a wheel-cut four-character mark, Qianlong nianzhi, within a double square.
Provenance: From a French private collection.
Condition: Very good condition with expected wear and manufacturing flaws, such open bubbles, glass swirls and striations, as well as minor other irregularities and flaws within glass. Few minuscule nicks, smoothened over time.
