A GROUP OF FIVE SATSUMA CERAMICS

Japan, Meiji period (1868-1912) to Taisho period (1912-1926)
Comprising a vase and cover finely decorated with a pheasant and hen amid standing above a rushing stream surrounded by prunus, peonies, iris, and roses, the rims and foot with bands of geometric and wave designs, the base inscribed ‘Satsuma, Hand Painted, Kobe Japan’; a miniature teapot decorated with a landscape scene with a small village and two beauties with a boy beneath a peach tree; a lobed miniature bowl with floral blossoms decorated to the interior with gold fundame, the exterior with various types of tree branches, the base signed KAWAKICHI; a small plate with a midnight-blue ground decorated with gold depicting foliate and a group of foragers picking mushrooms, the base signed HATTORI; and a midnight-blue bowl with a barbed rim decorated to the interior with three beauties and peony blossoms on the banks of a river. The exterior painted with a narcissus plants butterflies beneath a fruiting peach tree and a boy with a female attendant.

Condition: Very good condition with minor wear, manufacturing flaws, small nicks, minor pitting, and rubbing to the gilt.

Once you have pre-registered for a live online auction, you can see your intended spend and bid limit by going to 'Account Settings' and clicking on 'Live Bidding Registrations'.
Your bid limit will be the maximum amount you can bid during the auction. Your bid limit is for the hammer price and is not affected by the buyer’s premium and VAT. For example, if you have a bid limit of €1,000 and place two winning bids for €300 and €200, then you will only be able to bid €500 for the rest of the auction. If you try to place a bid that is higher than €500, you will not be able to do so.
