A JADEITE ‘LEAF AND GRAPES’ BRUSH WASHER, LATE QING TO REPUBLIC PERIOD

Lot details

China, 1840-1940. Carved as young grapes on a vine leaf, the front and reverse with finely incised veins. The translucent jadeite is of a fine, grayish-white tone with distinct emerald-green streaks and faint russet veining. The raised grapes were likely designed to serve as a brush rest.

Provenance: From a reputed French private collection.
Condition: Superb condition with a few minuscule nicks to the rim. The stone with natural fissures.

Weight: 76 g (excl. stand)
Dimensions: Length 18.1 cm

With a fitted wooden base, most likely of the same period. (2)


清末民初翡翠葡萄筆洗
中國,1840-1940年。小葡萄掛藤上,正面和背面雕刻都非常精緻,紋理清晰。翡翠半透明,呈細膩的灰白色,帶有明顯的翠綠色紋理和輕微的赤褐色脈紋。凸起的葡萄很可能可以用作筆擱。

來源:法國私人收藏。
品相:狀況良好,邊緣有一些微小的刻痕。玉料有天然裂縫。

Intended Spend and Bid Limits

When you register to bid in an online auction, you will need to share your intended maximum spending budget for the auction. We will then review your intended spend and set a bid limit for you. Once you have pre-registered for a live online auction, you can see your intended spend and bid limit by going to 'Account Settings' and clicking on 'Live Bidding Registrations'. 

Your bid limit will be the maximum amount you can bid during the auction. Your bid limit is for the hammer price and is not affected by the buyer’s premium and VAT.  For example, if you have a bid limit of €1,000 and place two winning bids for €300 and €200, then you will only be able to bid €500 for the rest of the auction. If you try to place a bid that is higher than €500, you will not be able to do so.
