A PALE CELADON JADE WINE CUP, MING DYNASTY
明代青白玉雕乳釘紋雙耳杯

China, 1368-1644. The rounded sides rising from a short foot, carved in relief with three rows of small bosses interrupted by a pair of loop handles. The lower body around the foot is neatly incised with a four-character inscription encircling a central mark. The translucent stone is of a pale yellowish-celadon color with light russet veins and icy inclusions.
Inscriptions: To the base, ‘Long. Around the foot rim, ‘Tiangong manhan’ (the wine cup is always full).
Provenance: From an old Austrian private estate.
Condition: Very good condition with minor old wear, minuscule chips to the upper rim and handles. The stone with natural fissures, some of which may have developed into hairlines.

Your bid limit will be the maximum amount you can bid during the auction. Your bid limit is for the hammer price and is not affected by the buyer’s premium and VAT. For example, if you have a bid limit of €1,000 and place two winning bids for €300 and €200, then you will only be able to bid €500 for the rest of the auction. If you try to place a bid that is higher than €500, you will not be able to do so.
