A TOURMALINE GLASS ‘POMEGRANATES AND PEACHES’ SNUFF BOTTLE, 1760-1840
1760-1840碧璽色料器《石榴桃子》鼻煙壺

China. Of compressed globular form, rising from a small oval foot ring to a lightly flaring neck with straight rim, finely carved to one side with a gnarled branch bearing pomegranates, the reverse with peaches borne on a leafy branch, each side with a lingzhi fungus, the foot encircled by rockwork. The transparent ruby-pink bottle with scattered small air bubbles.
Provenance: From a private collection in Pennsylvania, USA. The collection was assembled over a period of 30 years, specializing primarily in glass and hardstone snuff bottles.
Condition: Very good condition with minor wear, expected manufacturing irregularities, few minuscule nibbles to the rim and foot.
Stopper: Jadeite
Weight: 42.1 g
Dimensions: Height including stopper 64 mm. Diameter neck 15 mm and mouth 6 mm.
Expert’s note: This rare and fine snuff bottle is made of colorless glass which was mixed with just enough ruby-red to render the material completely transparent while lending it a pink blush to imitate tourmaline.

Your bid limit will be the maximum amount you can bid during the auction. Your bid limit is for the hammer price and is not affected by the buyer’s premium and VAT. For example, if you have a bid limit of €1,000 and place two winning bids for €300 and €200, then you will only be able to bid €500 for the rest of the auction. If you try to place a bid that is higher than €500, you will not be able to do so.
