‘PRECIOUS OFFERINGS TO A GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL’, QING DYNASTY
Lot 206-HS1224
China, 1644-1912. Ink, watercolors, and gouache on paper. Finely painted with a court lady and her son presenting precious antiquities, including a ewer and censer, to a bearded scholar-official dressed in voluminous robes, his face displaying a pleased expression. The scene is set within a lavish room with tall ceilings, featuring a large diaper-patterned screen adorned with landscape paintings, while several censers and bronzes rest atop ornate stands in the background.
Provenance: From a reputed Argentine collector of Asian works of art. The back with an old label from Casa J. E. A., a frame maker in Rosario, Argentina. A copy of a provenance letter, confirming the above and further stating that the present lot was in the previous owner’s “possession for an extensive period of time”, accompanies this lot.
Condition: Old wear, creasing, few tears with associated old repairs, minor soiling, browning, little flaking and minor losses to pigments. The colors are exceptionally crisp and well-preserved. Displaying remarkably well overall.

- Bidders must complete their due diligence and clarify all questions about the objects before the auction. After the auction, Zacke will not answer questions from bidders unless the purchase price has been paid in full. Of course, this does not apply to questions concerning shipping, insurance, customs, etc.
- A sale cancellation of any kind after the fall of the hammer is not possible. The only exception to this fundamental rule is our guarantee of authenticity [the Guarantee].
- A Guarantee Claim, however, can only be raised after the purchase price has been paid in full by the buyer and within 45 days after the auction day.
