By the Zohiko company, Zohiko seal mark
Japan, first half of 20th century, Taisho period (1912-1926) to Showa period (1926-1989)

Very finely lacquered in gold, silver, red, and brown hiramaki-e, the plumage finely worked with gentle gold strokes, the ducks shown as if swimming through water, wings slightly raised, the tail feathers extending outward and the crest of the male duck streamlining backward against the wind. The interior of nashiji and gold fundame, and the base of each sealed with the two-character ZOHIKO ‘elephant’ seal.

LENGTH 16 cm and 19 cm

Condition: Very good condition with only minor wear.

The Zohiko Company is a famous company of lacquerers established in the late 17th century and still active today.

  • Bidders must complete their due diligence and clarify all questions about the objects before the auction. After the auction, Zacke will not answer questions from bidders unless the purchase price has been paid in full. Of course, this does not apply to questions concerning shipping, insurance, customs, etc.
  • A sale cancellation of any kind after the fall of the hammer is not possible. The only exception to this fundamental rule is our guarantee of authenticity [the Guarantee].
  • A Guarantee Claim, however, can only be raised after the purchase price has been paid in full by the buyer and within 45 days after the auction day.
