A MANDALA THANGKA WITH SEMI-WRATHFUL DEITIES IN YAB-YUM, TIBET, 19TH CENTURY

Gold and distemper on cloth. The central palace housing a blue-skinned and four-armed male deity in union with his two-armed consort, both depicted in dynamic dancing poses trampling a prostrate figure atop a cushion backed by a flaming mandorla and green nimbus, encircled by blood-filled kapalas, dancing goddesses, and scrolling foliage, as well as four stupas pointing in the cardinal directions and decorated with auspicious objects. The upper and lower registers painted with various Buddhas, bodhisattvas, deities, and teachers. The back inscribed.
Inscriptions: To the reverse, ‘Om Ah Hum.’
Provenance: From a private estate in Denmark.
Condition: Good condition with minor wear, little soiling, minor creasing, small losses, few minor stains, the colors extremely well-preserved.

For example, if you have a bid limit of €1,000 and place two winning bids for €300 and €200, then you will only be able to bid €500 for the rest of the auction. If you try to place a bid that is higher than €500, you will not be able to do so.
