The vase of beaker form, elegantly flaring towards the foot and upper rim. The bronze of a deep brownish-red color mottled in dark-copper red. The recessed base incised with the artist’s signature NAOKI saku.

Condition: Excellent condition with minimal wear.
With a wood tomobako inscribed to the top of the cover, ‘Cast bronze flower vessel, titled Long Reign and Prosperity’, the interior of the cover signed ’made by Naoki’ and the artist’s seal mark.
Hara Naoki (1901-1994) was born in Kashiwasaki, Niigata Prefecture, as the first son of Hara Choichiro, a local bronze artist. He was an apprentice of the famous Kattori Shushin (1874-1954). He studied design in the Kawabata Art School, and later graduated from the Tokyo University of Fine Art. Naoki was accepted to the Teiten National Exhibition, where he consistently exhibited and received awards throughout his career, eventually becoming a Teiten judge. Hara Naoki also taught at his Alma-mater, helping successive generations of artists. He stopped working due to health issues in 1978 and was granted the Order of Cultural Merit in 1979.

Once you have pre-registered for a live online auction, you can see your intended spend and bid limit by going to 'Account Settings' and clicking on 'Live Bidding Registrations'.
Your bid limit will be the maximum amount you can bid during the auction. Your bid limit is for the hammer price and is not affected by the buyer’s premium and VAT. For example, if you have a bid limit of €1,000 and place two winning bids for €300 and €200, then you will only be able to bid €500 for the rest of the auction. If you try to place a bid that is higher than €500, you will not be able to do so.
