A RARE NEPALESE BRONZE FIGURE OF GARUDA, 18th CENTURY

Nepal, 18th century

The patinated bronze of figural shape and depicting Garuda, who is the son of wise Kashyapa - as king of the birds - mount of the god Vishnu. He is shown here worshipping posture, holding a Naga, with a tall eagle crown and a halo surrounding him. He has a human body, wing and tail feathers and a large pointed beak.

Dimensions: HEIGHT 17 CM
Condition: Good condition, however taken from a set – the legs are broken off
