A PORCELAIN VESSEL WITH PLAYING BOYS

China, Qing dynasty (1644-1912) to Republic period (1912-1949)

Smaller, full-bodied pot vessel with a wide border around its foot, predominantly composed of geometric drawing. In the main section, playing boys are depicted in front of a fence with rattles, lotus leaves, fans and pennants, while one holds a rabbit and several sit around a table. The pine tree is a symbol of longevity, as are the large ruyi strung together around the shoulder, the form of which is derived from the longevity mushroom.
