A gorgeously crafted, spherical lidded vessel. Elaborately openworked in the archaistic style with three feet depicting inward-curving phoenixes. The sides are divided into three openworked areas showing chilong dragongs with bifurcated tails and voluted manes, with taotie masks in the archaistic style and movable rings in between. The spherically curved lid is executed in a similar manner, but with upward-facing tigers in between the dragons. The finial is shaped like a circular vessel foot, thus the lid can also be placed like a bowl. This censer, known as luping 爐 瓶 in Chinese, is made from yellow-green jade and has a very fine translucence.
