A SET OF FIVE EMBROIDERED SILK TEXTILES - QING DYNASTY
Silk with Kesi weaving and Peking knot stitch
China, Qing dynasty

The first item in the lot being a square cloth with a colorful depiction of two furious dragons with flaming tails and surrounded by flames and large flowers on a black background. A magic pearl (or zhu) can be found between their heads. The second, a Kesi weaving rank badge consisting of two parts, showing a flying phoenix and a red sun. The phoenix is surrounded by clouds in the shape of a lingzhi, a reverse swastika, an endless knot, a bottle gourd and other symbols of luck. The stylized character Shou stands for a long life. The third, a circular Kesi weaving of plants and flowers. The fourth a peking knot panel with peacock and flowers. The fifth circular and embroidered with cranes and clouds.
