Depicted is a hand-modeled fat, or perhaps pregnant, dog figure standing and looking ahead. With mouth showing teeth, wide rounded belly, incised eyes, large pointed ears and raised tail; overall dark reddish brown. Dogs were important to the ancient inhabitants of the West Mexican regions, the Colima Dog was known to have a variety of uses throughout its centuries of existence: food source, guardian to the dead, healer or watchdog.
