AN UNUSUAL IVORY NETSUKE OF HOTEI LAUGHING AND A BOY BY YASUHIDE

A particularly humorous netsuke showing the gleefully laughing, fat-bellied Hotei lying comfortably on his giant bag containing treasure (takaramono). This bag, which is larger than Hotei himself, is being pulled by a very small karako who is clearly having a hard time. Large himotoshi on the underside, signed YASUHIDE koku no kore (carved by ...), within a leaf-shaped reserve.

Condition: The patina worn with a few age cracks – good and complete condition
