The Buddhist bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara, in China called Guanyin, here as childbearing mother goddess with a boy on her lap. The goddess sits in rajalilasana in this depiction on a tall rocky base. Sie wears a tall hair bun covered by a scarf, jewelry on the chest and books at her side. The cheerful, naked boy holds a lotus bud on the stem.
Dimensions: HEIGHT 25.3 CM
Condition: Some porcelain imperfections and defects. One feet of the child’s figure is missing and the fingers of the left child’s feet are broken. The part of the Guanyin sleeve is broken, as well as part of her fingers.
