A DING WARE EWER, NORTHERN SONG
China, 12th-13th century. The conical body rising from a spreading foot to a waisted neck with lipped flaring rim, set with a neatly incised strap handle opposite an elongated tapering spout, covered overall in an ivory-cream glaze pooling to characteristic teardrops.

Condition: Remarkably good condition, especially considering the age of this ewer. Extensive crackling to glaze, possibly with some glaze lines originated after the firing. Old wear and manufacturing flaws.
Provenance: German private collection, acquired at Nagel auction (by repute).

Weight: 984.1 g.
Dimensions: Height 19 cm.
