Bhaisajyaguru is the Buddha of healing and medicine in Mahayana Buddhism and often referred to as the Medicine Buddha. This work shows him seated in padmasana on a lotus throne and holding a twig from a myrobalan tree in his right hand. His other hand is flat on his lap and used to hold his alms bowl, which is missing.
