A CHARMING IVORY NETSUKE OF A SLEEPING TEMPLE SERVANT
Unsigned, ivory netsuke
Japan, first half of the 19th century, Edo period (1615-1868)

This netsuke shows a temple servant, dressed in flowing robes and wearing an eboshi, who has fallen asleep seated on a rolled-up umbrella, with a blissfully dreaming face with fine features. Good and large himotoshi through the side and underside. The ivory of a good color with a fine patina.

LENGTH 6.2 CM

Condition: Very good condition, the ivory showing signs of wear with a fine patina and a few expected age cracks
