Glazed ceramic with blue underglaze
China, Ming dynasty (1644-1912), 15th-16th century

An attractive collection with finely painted, Ming-era porcelain. One of the lidded pots features eight lobes with fields of floral or rather geometrical paintings. The knob is a recumbent animal, possibly a lion dog. The somewhat larger bowl is similar, but has a large lotus blossom on its slightly indented lid. On the bottom is a collection number written in silver. The smallest pot is beige colored and the decorative lines on its shoulder placed with a sure hand - blossoms and tendrils. The larger, unlidded pot has similar but elaborated motifs and has a ring of leaves on its shoulder.
